Where it all began

The Detroit Hustle & Grind Urban Literary Convention.

This spectacular event was the brainchild of Essence Magazine Bestselling Author, Ms. Michel Moore. With the assistance of the Hood Book Ambassadors Book Club, she held the first “All-Star Gala of Words” in May 2018. Almost automatically it was rumored to be a “Must attend industry celebration of literature.” Fast forward, The Hustle & Grind ULC is now a “Who’s Who” of Book Fairs authors and readers alike, travel across the globe to take part.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the 2021 gathering was held outside. Much to our delight, that day was far better than one could ever imagine. Matter of fact, the day was indeed ordained in history. Along with the heat, came some of the most sought-after names in the game. K’wan, Terri Woods, Shannon Holmes, Wahida Clark, T. Styles and a host of other writers as equally great, were on hand. Book clubs and readers were delighted to have face to face interaction with some of their favorites in the industry. JUNE 7th 2025, the 7th Annual Hustle & Grind ULC will be held. Bigger and better, there will be more Authors, Vendors, Music, Food Truck Gatherings and of course Readers. We encourage everyone to attend and definitely tell a friend.
